So, who’s it gonna be? Who’s hiring TinTin right out of school? It’s gonna be somebody, might as well be you.
In other creative people you need to hire before they get scooped up and/or decide to go to grad school news, I give you Caitlin Bradley, Liz Howell, Anna Hodgson and Sarah Kobos.
Forever to thee…
Alright team, it’s been a tough year. But you know if we beat Clemson all of that barely matters. Make it 3 years in a row. Make me proud.

The Garnet & Black Magazine.
The University of South Carolina’s quarterly magazine - but really an innovative collection of creative minds in publishable form. In the past year I have see an incredible amount of improvement in it’s visuals alone and needless to say I am incredibly proud to be associated with it and some of the most imaginative people I’ve ever met. Caitlin Kennedy Bradley is an extremely talented photographer and she put of some great images that capture one of the university’s most iconic characters, Boom Box Guy. (She also makes the student body double over in laughter with her rants.)Tas Anjarwalla makes me want to read. As simple as that. Don’t get me wrong, I like my literature but I’m a visual person at heart and I’ll be the first to if not just entirely judge a book by it’s cover, skip through the G&B without even considering reading a word.
Malia Griggs and Elizabeth Howell - mostly I just admire the effort I see these two women put into the magazine. Like I said, two years ago I wondered why the university spent so much money on a student magazine that was less popular than the impossible sudokus in the campus paper. But from the prep work Amanda Croy (who got me involved in the first place) put into the magazine before she graduated and the quick turn around I’ve seen in the fall of 2010 blows my mind.
I feel a little pathetic sometimes when I get into “I love my school, I love my life, I love my job” moments but to hell with that. I’m proud of my school, I’m proud of these people and proud to say I’m in the least bit involved. Instead of the overwhelming amount of complaining that I hear across campus (and from my own mouth) about what the university is lacking, this student run, student created, student produced magazine has given me a little perspective on what young people are capable of.

Meet Anna. She’s a pretty amazing photographer, designer, videographer, blogger, longboarder, and winner at life. I’m super glad she’s a part of Garnet & Black, a magazine still very close to my heart. It’s the sort of passion, dedication, and world class talent that I see in Anna and the rest of the staff that makes this publication more relevant and more beautiful with each issue. Onward and upward y’all. Keep kickin’ ass.

So, I’m the outstanding VisCom senior…
…and that, dear readers, is pretty darn cool. There are some ridiculously amazing and talented folks in my graduating class, so I’m a lot honored and a little shocked.
K, I’m done bragging now. Bye!
The brand new issue of Garnet & Black Magazine is online now!
My last issue as AD. It’s been a blast G&B!
This ad was nominated for a Student ADDY award. I got creation credit (and Croy Vey gets design cred, of course). If we win, I’ll be so tickled because who knew a pun of mine would get a prize? Just sayin.
Proud. and slightly jealous Malia
I’m definitely jealous. I would kill to be nominated for an ADDY. =( Do you know if the rest of the nominations are somewhere online?
Malia. Your puns are the prize-winnin-est puns I’ve ever heard. I mean… Croy Vey… genius. You have no idea how many people have started calling me that. I just got my ADDY invite in the mail and I am pumped! You don’t have to be nominated, you just have to enter your work. The deadline’s usually in early January and the AIGA inshow deadline is usually in September, so next year get on it! : )
