Sanborn insurance maps of Greenville, SC (between 1884 and 1920) I came across some old insurance maps of Greenville (and Columbia & Atlanta - those are coming soon) and the type and ornamentation on them is incredible. The fact that someone did it all by hand blows my mind. Those guys were the real deal.  Also, can any of my Greenvillians / history buffs explain to me why the population almost tripled in ten years between 1898 and 1908?
